of the Peace Convergence events.

Resisting War Games and War: Talisman Saber Activist Report Back
 
Date:   August 6 (Thursday) 2009 ­ Hiroshima Day
Time:  6pm ­ 8pm (veg light meal provided ­ please feel free to bring
something to share!)

Between July 3 - 26 people from around Australia took action to say no to US
war games taking place in our region.  Operation Talisman Saber saw up to
30,000 US and Australian troops engaging in live rehearsals for war.  A key
location for these activities was Shoalwater Bay, just north of Rockhampton.
 
Brisbane (and NNSW) activists took part in a variety of action in the
Shoalwater Region: joining and hosting community events, leafleting the
troops, conducting a hokey pokey at the perimeter of the military zone,
stopping army trucks and occupying the Shoalwater Bay Military Training Area
­ including maintaining a presence on the base for 11 days!
